About D&D Craft Beer
A promise that became a hobby brewery.
We did not know each other very well when brewing beer came up in conversation. Daniël mentioned an EasyBrew that had been sitting unused in his attic for a few years. Somewhere during that conversation, a promise emerged: one day we would brew a beer with it together.
What was meant as a one-off experiment grew into D&D Craft Beer. We sometimes brew together, sometimes one of us takes a batch and sometimes guest brewers join us. Every batch teaches us something new — and every beer gets its own story.

That promised brew day then took quite a while. About a year and a half later, the EasyBrew finally came down from the attic and our first batch became reality.
Starting sensibly with a simple beer would of course have been an option. So we did not. We started with a heavy dark beer, a kettle we still had to learn and, above all, a lot of enthusiasm.
There was no business plan and no carefully designed range. Just curiosity and the idea that making beer ourselves might be a lot of fun.
Since then the equipment has grown, we have gained more control over the process and the list of beers keeps getting longer. That does not mean everything always goes to plan. A stuck grain bed, unexpected readings or a fermentation that carries on more enthusiastically than intended are now just as much part of our story.
D&D Craft Beer has become much more than that one planned brew day, but the principle is still the same: brewing beer together, experimenting and learning something new from every batch. Sometimes we brew together, sometimes one of us takes a batch and sometimes guest brewers join us. We record who brewed each beer with every batch, but we tell the stories as D&D Craft Beer.
This website is our brewery log. Alongside the numbers and live fermentation data, we record why we made a beer, what happened on brew day, what surprised us and what we want to improve next time.
And it all started with an unused EasyBrew, one promise and a first brew day that took a year and a half to happen. In hindsight, Daniël might have been better off promising to go out for a beer together. That would probably have been a lot cheaper. But nowhere near as much fun.
